Lattimore Black Morgan & Cain, PC (LBMC), one of the Southeast’s largest accounting and business consulting firms, has added Sara Wilch in its Knoxville office.
Sara Nicole Wilch will be a senior accountant in the audit division of LBMC. Sara, a Certified Public Accountant, has experience working with a big four firm as well as another regional accounting firm. She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Findlay and a master’s degree from Ohio State University. Sara enjoys traveling, reading, cooking and attending various community events.
University of Tennessee President John Petersen and James Haslam II, Chairman of Pilot Corp., are among the most influential Tennesseans, according to a Power100 list released by Business TN Magazine.
Other notable East Tennesseans who made the list include entertainer and entrepreneur Dolly Parton, Jim Clayton, founder of Clayton Homes; Jimmy Haslam, CEO of Pilot Corp.; Bill Sansom, Chairman and CEO of H.T. Hackney Co.; Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam; and Lady Vols basketball coach Pat Summitt.

Rhonda E. Chancey will be a manager in the state and local tax division of LBMC. Rhonda has prior experience in public accounting, including Big 4. Rhonda has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and is a Certified Public Accountant, licensed in Tennessee.
Jacob E. Hutchison will be a staff accountant in the tax division of LBMC. Jacob, previously employed with Cattails at Meadowview, is a recent graduate or ETSU with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He enjoys mountain biking, snowboarding and golf.

Knoxville has captured a top-10 ranking for its population in the annual Site Selection Magazine's top metros. The list ranks cities by the number of corporate facility projects during that year.
Tennessee was tied for second place in the list of states with most top metros.
For its population range (200,000 to 1 million), Knoxville was tied for tenth place with Lexington, Ky., with 22 corporate facility projects in 2007.
Nashville was among the top ten in the over-1-million population group. Morristown and Johnson City, Tenn. were both in the top 10 in the under-200,000 population group.

Tennessee Senator Bob Corker, along with Chambers of Commerce from Knoxville, Nashville, Memphis and Chattanooga, are urging lawmakers in the Environmental Protection Agency to further research the necessity of implementing stricter air quality guidelines.
The Chambers note that changing the air quality standard for ground-level ozone from 0.08 to 0.06 would put pressure on 38 Tennessee counties which are currently in compliance, along with putting further behind 16 counties which have not yet met the current guidelines.
In a joint letter to Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen, the Chambers urge, "Our communities are making progress toward meeting the current air quality standards. Citizens, businesses, and governments have all made significant investments of time and resources to reach attainment, and these efforts will not cease. EPA should not implement stricter standards prior to a thorough review of the current standard's benefit."

Tennessee has earned a top-five ranking in a recent study by the American Legislative Exchange Council for having low business and property taxes, minimum wages, and a right-to-work status.

President Bush and Congress today finalized an economic stimulus package which included both tax rebate checks for millions of Americans and write-offs for businesses.
According to the Associated Press, "The package would allow businesses to immediately write off 50 percent of purchases of plants and other capital equipment and permit small businesses to write off additional purchases of equipment."
